Well, folks, grab your popcorn because the WWE is at it again with a good ol’ fashioned shuffle in their talent relations department. It seems like just yesterday (actually, it was nearly two years ago) when Paul “Triple H” Levesque climbed up to the big chair as Chief Content Officer and brought in Dan Ventrelle to spearhead the talent department. But now, Mr. Ventrelle has packed his bags, and WWE is mixing things up backstage faster than a chef tossing salad.
The word on the street (and by street, I mean SEScoops and Fightful Select) is that Ventrelle called it quits earlier today. Not one to waste time, WWE President Nick Khan whipped out an internal memo faster than you can say “Suplex City,” laying out the new game plan.
Here’s the skinny: Chris Legentil, who’s been juggling comms, is now stepping into the ring to help lead the revamped Talent Relations group. And he’s tagging in Matt Altman, the marketing maestro, to beef up the team. But wait, there’s more! The one and only Shawn Michaels, yes, the Heartbreak Kid himself, is now the head honcho of Talent Development and Recruiting. All this talent wrangling will continue to report up to Triple H. It’s like a WWE family tree but with more body slams.
Before hitting the WWE stage, Ventrelle was playing ball with the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders for nearly 18 years, climbing from team attorney to president. He even helped the team pack up their shoulder pads and helmets to move from Oakland to the glitzy desert of Las Vegas, opening the shiny new Allegiant Stadium along the way.
So, as WWE says a hearty “thanks” to Dan Ventrelle for his championship run, the rest of us are left wondering what’s next in this soap opera of muscle and meetings. One thing’s for sure, in the WWE, the only constant is change—and maybe the occasional steel chair.
