Well, folks, strap in because AEW Dynamite is about to crank up the voltage. Fresh off his victory at NJPW Windy City Riot, Jon Moxley, the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, is set to blaze back into AEW this coming Wednesday. And let me tell you, it’s going to be a sizzler.
Moxley, who’s been wrestling circles around the globe, put on a clinic in Chicago, snagging the IWGP title from Tetsuya Naito in a match that was anything but scheduled routine. Initially just another high-caliber bout, it got bumped up to a title match after Naito held onto his championship at the Sakura Genesis event. Highlights of this thriller were splashed across the April 13 edition of “AEW Collision,” just in case anyone needed a reminder of Moxley’s knack for snatching titles.
Now, with only one Dynamite show left before the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view on April 21, the timing of Moxley’s return couldn’t be better. The man hasn’t graced an AEW ring since the Revolution pay-per-view back on March 3, taking some well-earned downtime to recharge before his overseas exploits in NJPW and CMLL.
As for what’s next? Well, while Moxley’s dance card for Dynasty isn’t filled out just yet, you’d better believe he’ll be looking to make a splash. And with the IWGP belt now on his shoulder, he’s got a busy schedule ahead, not just in AEW but also on NJPW’s turf with the Wrestling Dontaku looming in early May.
So mark your calendars, wrestling fans. Jon Moxley is rolling back into town on AEW Dynamite, and if his track record’s anything to go by, it’s sure to be an electrifying night.
