Last night, while most of you were debating whether to hit the hay or watch just one more episode of whatever binge trap you’re in, the WWE was making history faster than you can say “suplex”! After the lights dimmed on “WWE SmackDown,” a clash of titans took place to crown the first-ever WWE Speed Champion. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this isn’t your grandpa’s wrestling; this is WWE Speed – think WWE with a shot of espresso!
In the red corner, we had Ricochet, who zipped past Dragon Lee and JD McDonagh quicker than you can unfollow your ex on social media. In the blue corner, Johnny Gargano, who showed Angel and Bronson Reed the exit in a style that could only be described as “blink and you miss it.” After an intense battle that lasted… wait for it… nearly three full minutes (I’ve had sneezes longer than that!), Ricochet rocketed to victory and snagged the title as the inaugural WWE Speed Champion.
But let’s rewind a bit. Back in February, the WWE teamed up with X (that’s what we’re calling Twitter now, folks) to bring wrestling into the future with “WWE Speed.” Imagine this: wrestling matches that are shorter than the time it takes to decide what pizza topping you want. Premiering on April 3, this high-octane spectacle caps matches at a whopping three minutes, proving that good things really do come in small packages.
Now, with Ricochet holding the WWE Speed Championship – his fourth singles title, mind you – the wrestling world is buzzing. Will he defend his title every week, or will Wednesday become the new Friday with a fresh challenger each time? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: the WWE is faster, crazier, and more unpredictable than ever. Get your popcorn ready (but maybe eat it quickly), because this is going to be a wild ride!
