In a twist more unexpected than a tax audit from your ex-wife’s new husband, AEW’s own colossus, Powerhouse Hobbs, found himself on the wrong end of fate during a clash of the titans on “AEW Dynamite.” Hobbs, in his quest for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, was paired against none other than Jon Moxley—a matchup promising more fireworks than a Fourth of July barbecue at the Pentagon.

But alas, not all stories end with the hero hoisting the gold. Reports from the battlefield, courtesy of “Fightful Select,” reveal that Hobbs didn’t just lose the match, he might’ve lost some playtime too. Word on the street is he’s gotten so banged up that surgeons are lining up like it’s Black Friday.

In the midst of this saga, there’s a subplot worthy of a soap opera. Enter Yota Tsuji, who’s been throwing shade faster than a cloudy day at the beach. Tsuji, hailing from the prestigious world of NJPW, questioned why Hobbs was gunning for a Japanese championship when he hasn’t even wrestled in Japan. It’s like being mad at someone for eating sushi when they haven’t been to Tokyo—come on, Tsuji, don’t be a sushi gatekeeper!

Hobbs, never one to shy away from a challenge, retorted with the social media equivalent of a flying elbow, declaring “ANYBODY CAN GET IT,” and even teasing a showdown in Japan. Perhaps this was AEW’s grand plan to introduce Hobbs to the sushi-loving fans in the Land of the Rising Sun, possibly setting the stage for a dramatic showdown at this year’s AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door event.

As the wrestling world turns its eyes towards Hobbs’ recovery and potential adventures in Japan, we’re all left wondering: will the powerhouse rise again, or is this the end of his championship dreams? Either way, everyone’s hoping for a speedy recovery because, as the saying goes, the show must go on—preferably without a cast and crutches.
