In what could be mistaken for a plot twist in a high-stakes wrestling storyline, WWE President Nick Khan has been making waves not in the ring, but in the boardroom. Early this week, the wrestling and financial worlds buzzed with news that Khan, alongside Vince McMahon, had put up their remaining TKO shares for sale, a move stirring up plenty of speculation.

Originally reported back in September, following the mega-merger of UFC and WWE into TKO Group Holdings, Khan was said to have registered to sell a hefty 234,424 shares of his TKO stock, valued at around $23 million. As rumors swirled about his potential departure due to this move and his nearing contract end, the actual story unfolded differently.

Dave Meltzer, in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, sheds light on the situation. Contrary to the bustling market rumors, Khan hasn’t sold any shares yet. Furthermore, clearing the air around his WWE tenure, it turns out Khan isn’t packing up his executive briefcase anytime soon. He’s inked a new deal to stay on as WWE President until the end of 2026.

Before stepping into the wrestling world, Khan was a notable figure in the sports agency arena, handling high-profile clients and brokering major deals, including WWE’s pivotal media rights arrangement in 2017. His climb up WWE’s corporate ladder was rapid. Taking over as President and Chief Revenue Officer in August 2020, following the exit of previous co-presidents, his ascent continued. He briefly held the co-CEO position alongside Stephanie McMahon after Vince McMahon’s retirement, before taking over as the sole CEO when McMahon returned and Stephanie stepped down.

Now, with a firm hold on his role and a seat on TKO’s Board of Directors post-merger, Khan’s story is one of resilience and reaffirmed commitment, proving once again that in WWE, the real drama often happens far from the spotlight of the squared circle.
