In a twist fit for a royal drama, former Queen Zelina Vega has had to abdicate her chance to reclaim her crown at tonight’s WWE Supershow. Adam Pearce, WWE’s authority on all things tournament-related, broke the news on X, stating that due to an injury, Vega will not be medically cleared to compete in the Queen of the Ring tournament.
“Zelina Vega will not be medically cleared to compete tonight,” Pearce tweeted. “It’s unfortunate, given her past as Queen. It would have been great to see her try for the crown again, but alas, the injury bug has other plans.”
But as one door closes, another opens wide. Stepping into the spotlight is Maxxine Dupri, who’s about to get the biggest break of her career. She’ll be facing the formidable Shayna Baszler tonight, in what could be a career-defining match for Dupri. With no major titles to her name yet, tonight could be the turning point she’s been waiting for.
This isn’t the first injury upset in this year’s King and Queen tournaments, with Bobby Lashley also stepping down due to injury, and Angelo Dawkins taking his place only to be defeated by Tama Tonga in the first round. It seems the path to WWE royalty is fraught with more twists and turns than a Shakespearean tragedy!
