In a twist that would make any telenovela jealous, Eddie Kingston, the hard-nosed brawler from Yonkers, has hit a snag. Fresh off a punishing loss where he was suplexed into a barricade during a No Ropes Last Man Standing Match against Gabe Kidd, Kingston’s now on the injured list. Picture this: the man who never says die, now sidelined, his leg a casualty of war against the unforgiving steel.

This past episode of “AEW Dynamite” brought more than just high-flying action; it brought bad news. Matt and Nick Jackson, those EVPs who never miss a beat, broke the news: Kingston can’t compete in the Anarchy In The Arena Match at AEW Double or Nothing. The plot thickens, folks, as the tag team drama writes itself.

Kingston, who was set to team up with FTR and Bryan Danielson to take on The New Elite, is now a no-show, leaving fans to wonder just how long their favorite brawler will be out of the ring. And if that wasn’t enough to stir the pot, The Young Bucks and Jack Perry, like villains in a Western, added insult to injury by attacking Kingston right after his punishing match. Talk about kicking a man when he’s down!

But wait, there’s more! Enter Darby Allin, the daredevil with a penchant for the dramatic, and a recent history of injuries that sounds more like a stuntman’s resume than a wrestler’s. Hit by a bus? Check. Numerous other injuries? Check. Yet, here he is, ready to dive back into the fray, replacing Kingston at Double or Nothing.

Allin, fresh off a superplex that sent him crashing headfirst into a beam while under the ring—because where else would one hide during a match?—isn’t exactly stepping into the ring at full strength. According to Bryan Alvarez, Allin himself admitted he’s not 100%. But hey, who needs all their faculties in a match named Anarchy in the Arena, right?
