Breaking news from the world of wrestling, folks! AEW star Tay Melo is gearing up for her highly anticipated return to the ring after taking a hiatus due to pregnancy. Melo, who announced that she and her husband, Sammy Guevara, were expecting their first child in June 2023, has been absent from AEW television since then. The couple welcomed their daughter last November, and now Melo is working hard on her comeback.
In a heartfelt post on social media platform X last night, Melo shared her journey back to the ring, detailing the challenges she’s facing. “So happy to be able to be in the ring again,” she wrote. “With a lot of patience, I’ll get ready to be back. It’s a whole new body [and] I still feel so [weak] inside. I got frustrated a couple times, had to hold my tears and keep going. My body was my baby’s home for 40 weeks and now I’ll get stronger not just for me but for her too. It’s a long way to go but I’m closer than yesterday.”
Melo also posted a video on Instagram, showcasing her progress. The clip features her running the ropes and rolling in preparation for her in-ring return, giving fans a glimpse of her dedication and determination.
Before her pregnancy, Melo was a member of the now-defunct Jericho Appreciation Society and teamed up with Anna Jay as a heel tag team. Jay has since transitioned to a babyface role, appearing on both AEW and ROH programming.
Meanwhile, Sammy Guevara, who continued his appearances in AEW during Melo’s pregnancy, has not been seen since being suspended earlier this year. Guevara reportedly failed to follow the correct protocol after his opponent, Jeff Hardy, suffered a concussion during their match in February. Although he is no longer under suspension, Guevara has yet to return to AEW TV.
As Tay Melo continues her journey back to the ring, fans eagerly await her return, cheering her on every step of the way. Stay tuned for more updates on her progress and potential comeback date.
