In a twist that even the best wrestling storylines couldn’t have scripted, Eddie Kingston, our beloved brawler, is now sidelined with a knee injury after an epic match against Gabe Kidd at New Japan Resurgence. For those keeping score at home, Kingston took a suplex through a table that ended with his leg making an unfortunate introduction to the guardrail. Ouch.

Originally, we were hopeful that Kingston would make a heroic return to AEW by late 2024 or early 2025. But, like trying to rush a soufflé, you can’t hurry these things. Speaking to PWInsider, Kingston shared the news that he’ll be postponing surgery until at least July to let his tibular fracture heal. So, instead of seeing our favorite tough guy back in the ring soon, he’s stuck with physical therapy and hoping for a green light from his doctors later this summer.

Kingston’s new timetable looks something like this: surgery in mid-2024, followed by at least ten months of recovery. That puts his return to the ring around May 2025. So, wrestling fans, it’s time to brace yourselves for a long wait, because Kingston will be out of action for over a year.

Despite the setback, Kingston is keeping his chin up and his fists clenched. In his own colorful words, “[I’m] not mad. I don’t give a f***. It’s what happens when you wrestle. Just gotta get f*****g better.”

I like ice cream, taking a back seat, wondering who I am, and pretending kayfabe is real. May or may not be the Real Dark Brandon. For the LOLZ. MALARKEY!
