Wrestling fans, we’ve got some important news about the legendary voice of AEW, Jim Ross. Just ahead of this Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing, Ross found himself in a Norman, Oklahoma, emergency room due to shortness of breath. Later that evening, he shared an update from his hospital bed, flanked by his two supportive daughters.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ross won’t be able to make it to the pay-per-view event. The 72-year-old commentator has been diagnosed with a Class A flu, which is the most common type of the virus, alongside an elevated heart rate and raised heart enzymes. Despite these concerns, Ross is expected to recover and return home within the next few days.

Jim Ross has faced several health challenges over the years, including a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment complications. However, earlier this month, he shared some positive news about his health, mentioning that he felt the best he had in years. He remains in remission from skin cancer, and the wound from his radiation treatment is nearly healed.

This weekend’s event marks the fifth anniversary of AEW, a company Ross has been a crucial part of since its inception. From calling the first Double or Nothing in 2019 to numerous other events, his iconic voice has been synonymous with AEW’s rise. Although he stepped back from full-time commentary in 2022, Ross continues to lend his voice part-time. With his AEW contract set to expire next year, Ross has hinted that retirement from commentary might be on the horizon.

Wishing JR a speedy recovery and looking forward to hearing him back on commentary soon!

I like ice cream, taking a back seat, wondering who I am, and pretending kayfabe is real. May or may not be the Real Dark Brandon. For the LOLZ. MALARKEY!
