Hold onto your wrestling belts, folks! AEW President Tony Khan has decided to shake things up for All Out 2024, moving the event from its traditional Labor Day weekend slot to Saturday, September 7. During the AEW Double or Nothing media call, Khan shed light on this unexpected shift.
Khan explained, “Last year was fantastic with back-to-back weekends for All In and All Out. However, we received feedback suggesting more time between the shows might be beneficial. Both weekends have their perks, and we’ve traditionally run on Labor Day for several years, even before AEW was a thing with All In. But I wanted to keep AEW in September and give Chicago an even better show. The feedback was clear: Labor Day weekend is great, but following a stadium show like All In with another big event just a week later is tough. Despite last year’s All Out being phenomenal, many felt it needed more breathing room.”
Last year’s All Out aired just one week after the massive All In event at Wembley Stadium, London. Despite rave reviews for both shows, Khan acknowledged that fans and critics alike suggested a longer gap between these major events to better develop storylines and matches. This adjustment not only aims to enhance the viewer experience but also takes into account the NFL’s opening weekend, ensuring fans don’t have to choose between football and wrestling.
By moving All Out to September 7, Khan hopes to provide a more polished and engaging event, ensuring AEW continues to deliver top-tier entertainment for wrestling fans worldwide.
