In an event more intense than trying to outpace a cheetah on a caffeine high, Nia Jax etched her name into WWE history by becoming the second-ever Queen of the Ring. Jax defeated Lyra Valkyria at WWE’s King & Queen of the Ring event, proving that sometimes brute strength is indeed the way to go.
The match was a classic David versus Goliath scenario, with Valkyria as the plucky underdog. She zipped around the ring like a sugar-high squirrel, attempting to dodge the “Irresistible Force” that is Nia Jax. Valkyria’s explosive counters and agile maneuvers kept the crowd on the edge of their seats. However, despite Valkyria’s best efforts and some near-miss victories, Jax’s endurance was as unyielding as a stubborn mule. She finally sealed the deal with the An-Nia-Lator in the corner, countering Valkyria’s powerbomb attempt to secure the win by pinfall.
Jax’s path to the crown was a veritable demolition derby of former women’s champions. She bulldozed through Naomi and Bianca Belair in the first round and semi-final, respectively. In a controversial quarter-final, she faced Jade Cargill. Jax introduced a steel chair into the match, and when Cargill used it in view of the referee, Jax advanced on a technicality. Meanwhile, Valkyria’s journey was as clean as a freshly laundered singlet, eliminating Dakota Kai, Zoey Stark, and Iyo Sky with finesse.
With tonight’s victory, Jax not only earns the title of Queen of the Ring but also secures a shot at the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam in August.
