The energy of WWE NXT skyrocketed on Tuesday as the sensational rapper Sexyy Red kicked off the show alongside General Manager Ava. With a flair for the dramatic, Red made a blockbuster announcement: she will be hosting NXT Battleground, set to debut at the iconic APEX Arena. This monumental event marks the first collaboration under the new TKO Group Holdings, the powerhouse born from WWE’s merger with UFC.

Red didn’t just stop at announcing her hosting gig; she unveiled the brand-new Women’s North American Championship belt. However, the glitz quickly turned to chaos as Tatum Paxley attempted a sneak attack to snatch the belt. Before Paxley could lay hands on the gold, Michin stormed down the ramp, setting the stage for their qualifier match. The match, a nail-biter from start to finish, saw Michin triumph and secure one of the coveted spots in the Battleground ladder match.

A die-hard WWE fan, Sexyy Red has been vocal about her love for NXT, recently gushing over NXT Champion Trick Williams and the dynamic group, The Meta-Four. The NXT Universe remembers well the moment last year when the crowd serenaded Williams with lyrics from Red’s hit “Shake Yo Dreads,” urging the champion to “shake [his] dreads.”

Adding fuel to the fire, a now-deleted X post from Red hinted at her anticipation for NXT, cheekily suggesting she “might RKO somebody.” Although she kept it cool on this week’s episode, fans are on the edge of their seats, wondering if Red will indeed deliver an RKO out of nowhere when she hosts Battleground on June 9. This event will be NXT’s first premium live spectacle since Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania 40 weekend.

Stay tuned, folks. With Sexyy Red in the mix, anything can happen—and it probably will.
