Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your wrestling boots! Just when you thought WWE’s contract drama was winding down, we have another superstar joining the free-agent frenzy. This time, it’s none other than Humberto Carillo, the high-flying luchador and cousin of Angel Garza. Yes, folks, it’s a family affair!
Fightful Select has spilled the beans that Carillo’s contract is set to expire on August 1, the same day as Garza’s. Talk about synchronizing watches! WWE, not wanting to lose another talented performer, has already started negotiations and has reportedly made an offer to keep Carillo in the fold. But as of now, no ink has touched the paper.
Carillo, a proud member of the illustrious Garza wrestling family, first rose to fame as the masked luchador Ultimo Ninja. From 2012 to 2018, he dazzled audiences with his high-flying antics in promotions like The Crash, MLW, and Pro Wrestling NOAH. WWE saw his potential and signed him in 2018, where he unmasked and began performing under his real name. Should he decide to leave WWE, he can easily continue to perform as Humberto Carillo, unshackled by WWE’s naming rights.
In 2021, Carillo teamed up with his cousin Garza to form Los Lotharios, adding a little spice to WWE’s tag team scene. Recently, the duo joined Santos Escobar’s Legado del Fantasma, filling the void left by Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde. Their last in-ring appearance was on the May 17 episode of “SmackDown,” where they faced off against #DIY.
As WWE’s summer soap opera continues, fans are left wondering: Will Carillo and Garza re-sign, or will they take their talents elsewhere? Stay tuned, because this storyline is just getting started!
