These two dynamos have been missing from the ring, leaving fans more curious than a cat in a yarn store.
First, let’s talk about Britt Baker, the dentist-turned-wrestling sensation. She’s been MIA due to injuries since last year. In May, Jamie Hayter dropped her Women’s Championship to Toni Storm faster than you can say “ouch,” in a match that lasted just over three minutes. Meanwhile, Baker took a swing at the TBS Championship in September but struck out on “AEW Collision.” Since then, Storm has played musical chairs with the title, losing it, reclaiming it, and rebranding herself as “Timeless.” But we’re here for the OGs, folks!
Tony Khan recently sat down with Uproxx and spilled the tea on Baker and Hayter’s returns. “Dr. Britt Baker is one of our original stars and she’s been out injured for an extended period of time. I’m very eager to get Britt back here,” he said, likely with a twinkle in his eye. “She’s somebody that’s been a part of AEW all along. And we’d love to have her back in the mix very soon.”
And what about Jamie Hayter, the powerhouse with a shoulder injury that sidelined her? Khan says, “Jamie Hayter’s timetable is still pending. But I think having Jamie Hayter back in AEW would be fantastic.” Now, that’s what we call anticipation!
Rumor has it, Britt Baker’s been dealing with back issues, and in true dramatic fashion, she blamed the fans for her absence. Yes, you read that right – the fans! She wrestled a grand total of four times in 2023. As for Hayter, she walked into Double or Nothing already injured, and her short, one-sided title loss was more of a formality to pass the belt to Storm than a real contest.
