The bad blood between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk is hotter than a summer BBQ, and McIntyre wasted no time pouring gasoline on the fire following NXT Battleground. After CM Punk and NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez had a heated exchange, culminating in Perez calling Punk a hypocrite, McIntyre took to social media to add his own two cents.
“Even people who grew up idolizing CM Punk are already sick of him,” McIntyre tweeted, throwing shade like a pro.
This jab is just the latest in a long line of verbal barbs between the two WWE heavyweights. McIntyre has never been shy about his disdain for Punk, famously saying the straight-edge superstar deserves to be tortured. The grudge dates back to McIntyre’s first WWE stint, where he accused Punk of holding him down. Clearly, McIntyre hasn’t let that go.
Punk, still on the mend from a torn triceps suffered at this year’s Royal Rumble, managed to make a splash at WrestleMania 40, interfering and costing McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship. Now, as McIntyre prepares for his shot at redemption at WWE Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland, he’s on high alert for more Punk shenanigans.
McIntyre is set to face Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Title, but he’s already warning Punk to stay out of his way. “The locals won’t be happy if their hometown hero loses because of you,” McIntyre cautioned, making it clear that a repeat of WrestleMania won’t be tolerated.
Stay tuned, folks. If Punk decides to meddle again, Clash at the Castle might be as explosive as a firecracker in a fireworks factory!
