WWE and TNA Wrestling’s partnership is growing faster than a wrestling fan’s anticipation for WrestleMania! Recently, TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace has been shaking things up on “WWE NXT.” And at the “NXT” Battleground show, some top TNA brass were spotted lurking backstage, further fueling the rumor mill.
According to “PWInsider,” TNA President Anthony Cicione, who swooped in to replace Scott D’Amore earlier this year, was backstage. He wasn’t alone; he was accompanied by the legendary Gail Kim and TNA executive producer Ariel Shnerer. In a heartwarming twist, Grace’s husband and TNA star Jonathan Gresham was ringside, cheering his partner as she took on “NXT” Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez.
In a plot twist worthy of a soap opera, Ash By Elegance (formerly known as Dana Brooke in WWE) made a dramatic return to WWE. She decided to crash the party by interfering in the Perez vs. Grace match after “NXT’s” Tatum Paxley pulled a sneaky move, trying to snatch Grace’s Knockouts title. Talk about making an entrance!
The backstage buzz is that TNA is thrilled with its collaboration with WWE, and some WWE stars are itching to make cameo appearances in TNA. Rumor has it that TNA’s Steve Maclin, a former WWE talent, could seamlessly fit into WWE’s current storyline mayhem. Roxanne Perez has even publicly declared her interest in taking on Grace on TNA turf. And if that wasn’t enough to keep fans on the edge of their seats, WWE Hall of Famer and “NXT” commentator Booker T has been hyping up Moose for a main roster spot in WWE. Forget “NXT”—Booker T thinks Moose should go straight to the big leagues!
Stay tuned, folks. This WWE-TNA partnership is just getting started, and if Battleground is any indication, we’re in for one wild ride.
