Rossy Ogawa’s Marigold promotion is making waves in the wrestling world, and their upcoming Summer Destiny event on July 13 just got even hotter. The company, fresh off the success of its Fields Forever event at Korakuen Hall and currently on its Grand Opening Wars Tour, has announced a blockbuster match featuring a former WWE Women’s Champion.
In a thrilling reveal at the end of their most recent show, Ogawa took to the microphone to announce Utami Hayashishita’s opponent for July 13. The crowd was electrified as a video played on the big screen, unveiling none other than WWE star IYO Sky. Sky, addressing Hayashishita, expressed her excitement about making history in a Marigold ring and returning to Japan for the first time in six years.
The match, dubbed “Queen of Queen,” promises to be a historic clash. Both Sky and Hayashishita are former leaders of the Queen’s Quest faction in STARDOM, adding an extra layer of intrigue. Sky, formerly known as Io Shirai, founded the faction in 2016 alongside HZK and Momo Watanabe. After Sky left for WWE in 2018, Watanabe took the reins, bringing Hayashishita into the fold and later making her the leader in 2022. Hayashishita held that position until her departure from STARDOM in April 2024.
This bout marks Sky’s first match in Japan since joining WWE in 2018. The last time WWE visited Japan was in 2019 for live events at Ryogoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo, where Sky, then part of the “NXT” roster, wowed the crowd.
The Summer Destiny event on July 13 is shaping up to be a can’t-miss spectacle, with the “Queen of Queen” match between IYO Sky and Utami Hayashishita headlining the card. Fans are eagerly anticipating this historic showdown as Sky returns to her roots to face a formidable opponent in Hayashishita.
