Folks, it seems the powerhouse Wardlow, despite his recent absence from AEW television, is making some serious behind-the-scenes maneuvers. Our favorite muscle-bound titan, who hasn’t stepped into the AEW ring since March after his loss to Samoa Joe, has decided to take matters into his own hands.
According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Wardlow has officially filed for the trademark of his ring name—yep, the same name his mama gave him. And get this, he did it all by himself, no fancy lawyer in sight. Talk about a one-man wrecking crew!
For those who might’ve forgotten amidst the chaos, Wardlow is a member of the Undisputed Kingdom. This faction includes some heavy hitters like Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, Roderick Strong, and Adam Cole. However, Wardlow’s been MIA from most of their recent escapades. Since their dramatic debut at the end of 2023, the group’s momentum has been about as consistent as a cat on a hot tin roof, especially with Adam Cole sidelined due to an ankle injury.
But don’t think Wardlow’s been twiddling his thumbs! No siree. He’s been vocal on social media, especially about MJF, who apparently decided it was a good idea to nab Wardlow’s wolf imagery for his “Wolf of Wrestling” t-shirts. This has stirred quite the pot, considering their history, with MJF reportedly booking it out of Las Vegas in 2022 to dodge a potential defeat at Wardlow’s hands.
Wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer voiced his concerns on “Busted Open Radio,” lamenting that AEW might have missed too many golden opportunities with Wardlow. Could this trademark filing be the dawn of a new era for Wardlow in AEW? Or is he gearing up to bid Tony Khan’s promotion adieu? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: Wardlow isn’t done making waves just yet!
