In a move that screams nostalgia louder than a Ric Flair chop, WWE is toying with the idea of reviving the infamous “Bad Blood” pay-per-view for a 2024 showdown. According to PWInsider Elite, the wrestling juggernaut is considering this classic name to celebrate the anniversary of the legendary first Hell in a Cell match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. That iconic clash took place on October 5, 1997, back when people still thought dial-up internet was fast.
The master plan? To host a Hell in a Cell match during the October premium live event, ideally on October 5th itself—a Saturday, no less. Currently, WWE has a gap in their October schedule big enough to fit Andre the Giant. Their last announced events are SummerSlam on August 3 in Cleveland, Ohio, and Bash in Berlin on August 31. Looks like October’s just begging for some Bad Blood.
For those keeping score, Bad Blood was originally an “In Your House” PPV, where the first Hell in a Cell match electrified the Kiel Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The event had a resurrection of its own in the early 2000s after the brand split into “WWE Raw” and “WWE SmackDown,” replacing King of the Ring on the calendar. Sadly, it got the axe in 2004, making way for One Night Stand and Vengeance, only to nearly return in 2017 before being swapped out for the sizzlingly named Great Balls of Fire. Because who doesn’t love a good ball joke?
