Saturday was a milestone night for AEW Collision, marking its one-year anniversary with a main event that packed a punch and then some! The Bang Bang Gang, also known as “The Collision Cowboys,” went head-to-head with fellow Collision regulars, The House of Black. It was a clash of titans, folks, but the drama didn’t end with the final bell.
During the high-octane match, Buddy Matthews of The House of Black seemed to tweak his knee while performing a Meteora on Juice Robinson. Ouch! The show returned from picture-in-picture just in time to show Matthews being helped to the back, leaving Brody King and Malakai Black to fend off the Bang Bang Gang in a 3-on-2 situation. Spoiler alert: they pulled off a miraculous win, thanks to a timely assist from PAC. Talk about teamwork making the dream work!
But wait, the post-match shenanigans were far from over. A chilling video from The Patriarchy interrupted the celebrations. Christian Cage, ever the smooth talker, congratulated The House of Black on their No. 1 contender status for the Unified World Trios Championship. Then he dropped a bombshell: “There’s only one problem, you’re not a trio anymore.” The camera revealed Matthews laid out on a chair, the apparent victim of a Con-Chair-To by Cage himself. Earlier in the evening, Cage hinted that The Patriarchy might be eyeing the trios titles, and boy, did he make good on that threat!
As of now, it’s unclear whether Matthews’ knee injury is the real deal or just part of the storyline. But one thing’s for sure: this segment was crafted to write Matthews off AEW programming, at least for the time being. Stay tuned for more updates, and keep those chairs away from Christian Cage!
