Drama, drama, and more drama, folks! In the latest twist from AEW’s “Collision” on June 15, Buddy Matthews, formerly known as Buddy Murphy, had fans clutching their pearls when he seemingly injured his knee during a match. It looked like the House of Black was down a man, leaving Brody King and Malakai Black to fend for themselves against the Bang Bang Gang. But wait, there’s more! Matthews was later found laid out backstage, with The Patriarchy looming over him like a bad horror movie ending.
But hold onto your folding chairs, wrestling fans. According to PWInsider Elite, it was all just a big, fat storyline! Matthews isn’t injured at all. Nope, he’s off to Australia for some R&R and a family occasion with his fiancé, WWE star Rhea Ripley. So, while Matthews enjoys some down-under sunshine, the House of Black is left one man short.
No word yet on when Matthews will return, leaving the House of Black in a pickle against The Patriarchy unless they recruit a new member. Meanwhile, Adam Copeland continues to stir the pot, with victories over Christian Cage and the entire House of Black this year. The Patriarchy’s eyes are now set on the trios gold, as declared by Cage himself on the same “Collision” broadcast.
