Wrestling fans, brace yourselves! The rumor mill has been grinding away with whispers about Shane McMahon making a grand entrance into AEW. However, sources suggest the odds of this happening are about as likely as Vince McMahon using public transportation.
According to the ever-reliable “Fightful Select,” the buzz about Shane-O Mac crashing AEW’s party hasn’t even made it to the backstage whisper network. AEW insiders have reportedly said that Shane joining their ranks is as likely as a steel cage match without any interference—practically unheard of. Despite Shane not being tied down by any WWE contracts (legends, talent, or otherwise), and his WWE 2K24 game appearance being a separate deal altogether, there’s just no official talk of him making a splash in AEW waters.
Sure, Shane might be open to the idea—he’s mentioned it to a few pals—but AEW CEO Tony Khan has squashed these rumors like a heel’s championship dreams. Khan has firmly stated he’s never met or chatted with Shane. However, Jim Ross, AEW commentator and WWE Hall of Famer, who’s on a first-name basis with Shane, hinted that McMahon’s entrance into AEW could be a decent plot twist.
Shane’s last foray into the squared circle was at WrestleMania 39, where his impromptu match with The Miz ended quicker than a referee’s count-out, thanks to an untimely injury. Before that debacle, his appearance at the 2022 Royal Rumble saw him getting more heat backstage than a summer in Death Valley for reportedly rearranging the match plans.
