WWE has scored a bodyslam of a deal, folks! That’s right, the wrestling giant has inked a partnership with the Indiana Sports Corp to host WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and the Royal Rumble at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium. This move was hyped up by none other than Triple H and the human hype machine, Pat McAfee, in a slick video that makes you want to suplex someone through a table.
This partnership kicks off on February 1, 2025, with the Royal Rumble, making it the perfect time to start planning your Indianapolis road trip and practicing your shocked-face reaction for when your favorite wrestler gets eliminated.
According to the wrestling scoopsters at Fightful Select, there was some juicy backstage chatter about moving the Royal Rumble to February. WWE didn’t want to play chicken with the NFL, especially during playoff season. After all, who wants to compete with the SuperBowl when you can have a whole month to yourself? However, don’t get too comfy with that February date; it might just be a temporary move. WWE’s scheduling whims are more unpredictable than a Randy Orton RKO.
Indianapolis isn’t a stranger to the big leagues. They hosted the SuperBowl in 2012 and nailed it, making Lucas Oil Stadium a prime location for WWE’s major events. Plus, it’s an indoor stadium, which means no weather worries to mess up those perfectly timed pyrotechnics. The city’s location is also a big win, being easily accessible and within reach of several major population centers.
SummerSlam is set to follow Minneapolis’ lead with a two-night extravaganza in 2026, and rumor has it that WWE higher-ups are toying with the idea of a two-night Royal Rumble. Because why have one night of Royal Rumble chaos when you can have two?
