Hold onto your luchador masks, folks! The wrestling world is once again a stage for high drama, epic comebacks, and… ex-WWE champions proving they’re not too old to rumble! Yes, eleven years after their WWE days, Alberto El Patron and Nic Nemeth are set to face off once more at AAA’s TripleMania XXXII in Mexico City. It’s like a soap opera, but with more spandex and fewer commercial breaks.
In April, Nemeth snagged the AAA Mega Championship from the ever-controversial El Patron, and now, the latter is hungry for revenge. Think of it as Rocky versus Apollo, but with more body oil and dramatic entrances. Confirmed by AAA and announced in a press conference that had more flair than a Ric Flair entrance, the rematch will go down on August 17 at Arena Ciudad de Mexico. This will be Nemeth’s second title defense, following a victory over Eddie Colon in Puerto Rico. We can only hope there’s less sweat and more suplexes this time around.
But wait, there’s more! Adding to the chaos, former WWE US Champion Matt Riddle will tangle with former TNA Digital Media Champion Laredo Kid. Riddle, who knows a thing or two about controversy himself, is making his second AAA appearance this year. Last weekend, he fell short against El Hijo del Dr. Wagner, but hey, you win some, you lose some, and then you get back up and wrestle a masked guy in Mexico. It’s the circle of life.
And for the grand finale, the event will feature Jinder Mahal, now wrestling under his real name Raj Dhesi, teaming up with AEW’s Satnam Singh. They’ll take on Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno del Mal, as well as Psycho Clown and Negro Casas, with the AAA World Tag Team Championships on the line. This is Mahal’s second big booking post-WWE release, the first being an upcoming match with Black Label Pro. It’s like seeing an old friend at a reunion – you’re happy to see them, but also hoping they don’t embarrass themselves.
