In a twist more painful than a botched suplex, AEW star Riho has announced she fractured her arm in her return match on “AEW Collision.” Talk about a comeback that got body-slammed by fate!
Taking to social media, Riho shared a snapshot of her arm in a sling, captioned, “I just fractured my arm but I’m doing very well❤️🔥.” Ever the optimist, she’s turning a broken limb into a fashion statement.
During her match against Lady Frost on the July 6 edition of “Collision,” eagle-eyed fans noticed something was amiss. The Japanese star took a hard fall while performing a crossbody on the outside, landing awkwardly and clutching her right arm in pain. It was a move that, in hindsight, could have used a little more Frost and a lot less impact.
Riho had just returned to AEW a few weeks ago, storming back into the spotlight by confronting Serena Deeb on “Collision.” Before her unfortunate mishap, she hadn’t graced the AEW ring since March when she faced off against Willow Nightingale at the Big Business show. Her absence was due to a necessary trip back to Japan to renew her visa—because apparently, even wrestling stars have to deal with bureaucratic red tape.
This injury is just another hit in a series of unfortunate events for AEW. The promotion has been plagued by a rash of injuries sidelining stars like Kiera Hogan, Adam Copeland, Kota Ibushi, Mark Davis, and Dax Harwood. It’s starting to look like the AEW roster needs a health insurance policy that covers “acts of wrestling.”
On a brighter note, AEW’s women’s division got a major boost with the return of Britt Baker. Baker, who made her comeback at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view, is set to bring her signature flair and hopefully stay off the injury list.
