In what could be one of the crowning moments of Bryan Danielson’s storied career, the wrestling legend clinched victory in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament final on Wednesday’s “AEW Dynamite.” Danielson emerged victorious over a freshly returned “Hangman” Adam Page, securing his place at All In at Wembley Stadium on August 25, where he will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship.
The electrifying match opened the show with Jeff Jarrett serving as the special guest enforcer, a twist following Page’s defeat of Jarrett to advance in the tournament last week. The action was intense from the get-go, with Danielson immediately attempting the LeBell Lock, though Page managed to reach the ropes.
After a brief picture-in-picture break, the chaos escalated. Page delivered a tombstone piledriver, only for Danielson to kick out. The action spilled to the floor, where Page hit another piledriver. Despite the punishment, Danielson retaliated with a Busaiku Knee but lacked the energy to secure a pinfall.
The match took a dramatic turn when Danielson and Page exchanged headbutts in the ring, leading to Danielson accidentally hitting a Psycho Knee on the referee. Seizing the moment, Page wrapped his belt around Danielson’s neck, but Jarrett intervened, revealing a referee’s shirt beneath his t-shirt and taking control of the match. In the ensuing confusion, Page delivered a Deadeye, yet Danielson kicked out.
Page continued his assault with a Buckshot Lariat to Danielson’s back but missed a second attempt. He then applied a crossface, seemingly knocking out Danielson. However, when Jarrett checked, Danielson’s hand didn’t drop. Danielson reversed the hold into a pin, securing a hard-fought victory and setting his sights on Wembley Stadium.
