Ladies and gentlemen, the WWE universe is in for a treat! The blockbuster match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa is officially on for WWE SummerSlam. This electrifying showdown was confirmed in dramatic fashion after a brutal display by Jacob Fatu on “WWE SmackDown.”
Right after DIY retained their newly-won tag team titles, the celebration was cut short by a rampaging Jacob Fatu. Not only did he decimate Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, but he also left their opponents, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, in a heap. Fatu’s rampage was just the beginning, as it heralded the arrival of Solo Sikoa and the rest of the New Bloodline.
Sikoa faced the crowd’s “We Want Roman” chants, demanding that fans acknowledge him. He declared that even Roman Reigns would acknowledge him upon his return. Then, with a fiery glare, Sikoa turned his attention to the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes. “It’s Cody Rhodes’ turn to acknowledge me,” he stated. But before Sikoa could finish, the arena erupted with the sound of “Kingdom” as Rhodes made his entrance.
Rhodes agreed to a title match at SummerSlam, taunting that he’d prefer to face Sikoa right then and there. The New Bloodline encircled Rhodes, who valiantly fought back, even setting up Sikoa for a Cross Rhodes. However, Jacob Fatu delivered a crushing superkick before Rhodes could finish the move.
As Rhodes endured a vicious beatdown, Randy Orton stormed in for the rescue. Orton delivered a spectacular RKO over the second rope to Sikoa, but the heroics were short-lived. With Rhodes trapped in the ropes, Orton was helpless against a barrage of superkicks and a powerbomb through the announce desk. Rhodes then suffered a Samoan Spike, leaving him prone as the New Bloodline raised their index fingers in triumphant dominance.
