Ladies and gentlemen, in a twist wilder than a rollercoaster on a mountain of jalapeños, the indomitable FTR, those two-time AEW World Tag Team Champions, have made a shocking return to the squared circle! Yes, you heard it right. Just when you thought they’d be out of action longer than your grandma’s fruitcake stays in the freezer, they’re back on AEW TV, ready to throw down with the Don Callis Family.
The drama unfolded on Saturday’s “AEW Collision,” where the night kicked off with Konosuke Takeshita of the Don Callis Family squaring off against “Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington. Takeshita snagged the win, and that’s when Don Callis, ever the charming devil, slid into the ring to extend a greasy handshake and a spot in his Family to Billington. But Billington, being no one’s fool, refused and got a sneak attack from Takeshita for his troubles. The beatdown commenced, and just when it seemed like Billington was toast, Callis signaled for reinforcements, bringing in Kyle Fletcher.
Enter FTR! With their signature music blasting through the arena, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler stormed the ring like knights in shining spandex, laying waste to the villainous Callis crew and rescuing the hapless Billington. A return worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster!
Harwood, who had been off the grid since June 10 due to a nasty hematoma and a suspected concussion from AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view in April, seems to have shrugged off his injuries faster than you can say “powerbomb.” With their triumphant return, it looks like we’re set for an epic showdown between FTR and the dastardly duo of Takeshita and Fletcher, the last standing members of Callis’ once-mighty faction.
To recap the Callis Family drama: Powerhouse Hobbs and Trent Beretta are sidelined with injuries, Sammy Guevara turned babyface before his suspension, and AEW International Champion Will Ospreay exited the Family with Callis’ blessing earlier this month. Seems like the Callis Family is falling apart faster than a cheap suit in a hurricane!
