After a title reign that looked more like a stroll in the park than a wrestling saga, Cody Rhodes found himself face-to-face with the rowdiest family reunion ever – The Bloodline! Last Friday’s SmackDown saw Rhodes attempt to single-handedly tackle his SummerSlam opponent Solo Sikoa, along with his cousins Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu. It was like trying to take on a bear with a butter knife, and let’s just say, Cody got mauled.
The legendary Randy Orton tried to play hero but ended up taking a table nap, courtesy of the Bloodline. In a moment that will live in infamy (or at least until the next dramatic twist), Rhodes was left dangling in the ropes like yesterday’s laundry.
But folks, Cody Rhodes isn’t about to throw in the towel. No siree! The WWE on Fox X account dropped a bombshell – Rhodes is making a comeback this Friday on SmackDown to respond to the Bloodline’s brutal ambush. Whether Randy Orton will join Rhodes in this revenge saga or just lick his wounds backstage remains a mystery. Adding to the drama, WWE United States Champion Logan Paul will also grace the show, presumably to escalate his spat with LA Knight into an all-out social media war.
Rhodes’ tussles with The Bloodline seemed to simmer down after his WrestleMania 40 triumph over Roman Reigns. With The Rock taking an unexpected hiatus to, presumably, work on his eyebrow-raising skills, things had cooled off. But the peace was short-lived. Post-WWE Clash at the Castle, Rhodes got sucked back into the feud, aligning with Orton and Kevin Owens against Sikoa’s Bloodline. The bad blood boiled over at Money in the Bank where Sikoa, Tonga, and Fatu handed Rhodes, Orton, and Owens a stinging defeat, with Sikoa pinning Rhodes faster than you can say “family feud.”
