Last night’s “WWE NXT” had its fair share of fireworks, but none quite as enlightening as Roxanne Perez’s bold promo. At just 22, Perez confidently touted her success in the wrestling industry, even predicting she’d surpass the records of NXT legends like Bayley, Asuka, Rhea Ripley, and Charlotte Flair. However, in a classic “oops” moment, Perez flubbed one crucial detail about “The Queen.”
Perez proclaimed that as of July 17, it would mark 13 years since Flair’s first NXT match and that Flair has since become a 14-time World Champion. Cue the record scratch—because it’s actually been 11 years since Flair’s debut on the gold brand. Naturally, the queen herself, Charlotte Flair, hopped onto social media to set things straight.
“You almost had it right. It’s been 11. But thank you! I really do have the best fans. Keep doing your thing. We will meet in the ring one day—I’m sure of it,” Flair tweeted, with all the grace and poise of a royal correcting her court.
Flair has been out of action since last December due to a severe knee injury sustained during a match against Asuka on “WWE SmackDown.” The torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus projected to keep her sidelined for nine months. However, in true Flair fashion, Charlotte announced in February that she’s “ahead of schedule” in her recovery. The Queen is poised for a grand return, and who knows? We might see her and Perez settle things in the ring sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, NXT is buzzing with excitement as Thea Hail earned her shot at Perez’s NXT Women’s Championship by defeating Izzi Dame. This title clash is set to unfold at the Great American Bash television special, airing on July 30 and August 6.
