Well, folks, it looks like CM Punk has been up to his old tricks again. Unable to wrestle due to a tricep injury, Punk has instead channeled his energy into becoming Drew McIntyre’s personal nightmare, ruining not one but two World Heavyweight Championship matches for the Scottish Warrior. With SummerSlam fast approaching, everyone’s wondering if Punk will make his grand comeback or miss out on yet another major event since his mishap at the Royal Rumble.
According to the fine folks over at “PWInsider,” CM Punk has been spotted at the WWE Performance Center, hitting the ring in a valiant attempt to get the green light from WWE’s medical team. Punk, ever the optimist, had earlier shared hopes of getting cleared by his docs in Chicago, but until now, news on his recovery has been as scarce as a unicorn at a rodeo. Despite this, he’s been popping up on “WWE Raw” and even graced us with his presence at the recent Money in the Bank shindig.
For those who missed the drama, Punk injured himself during his grand return to WWE at the Royal Rumble – his first televised match since rejoining the promotion last November. Before that fateful night, he had been warming up with some Live Event matches. Alas, he tore his tricep in the final moments of the men’s Royal Rumble match, marking his first WWE bout in a decade since his infamous walkout post-2014 Royal Rumble.
During his WWE hiatus, Punk tried his luck in UFC (spoiler: it didn’t go well) and stirred up more controversy than a soap opera in AEW, culminating in a backstage brawl that left company president Tony Khan quaking in his boots. This little escapade got Punk the boot from AEW, paving the way for his WWE return at Survivor Series.
Will Punk be back in time for SummerSlam? Or will he continue to lurk in the shadows, pulling strings and causing chaos? Only time will tell, my friends!
