In an unexpected twist worthy of a daytime soap opera, Vince McMahon is back in the legal limelight. This time, he’s doing the legal two-step to block Janel Grant’s latest legal maneuvering in her civil suit against WWE, Vince himself, and an assortment of others for some pretty serious allegations, including sexual harassment, abuse, and trafficking.

After a federal judge decided to put a six-month hold on Grant’s civil suit, she took a detour and filed a suit against her former physician, Dr. Carlon M. Colker. According to new filings, McMahon’s legal eagles are squawking that Grant’s quest for medical records from Colker breaks the federally-imposed dance break in the court proceedings.

“Today’s motion is in response to Ms. Grant’s flagrant violation of the federal Stay Order,” declared Jessica Taub Rosenberg, partner at Akin Gump and McMahon’s legal mouthpiece. “After promising the Federal Court a time-out, Ms. Grant went ahead and played solo, seeking one-sided discovery for her own advantage. Her lawyer even told the press that the new information from Connecticut would ‘assist in our claims in the federal action.’ We’re asking the federal Court to remind Plaintiff to follow the rules and, if she doesn’t, to hit her with civil contempt and financial penalties.”

While McMahon’s team was busy submitting their motion, Dr. Colker’s representative decided to RSVP to Grant’s legal party. They filed a Notice To Appear, signaling that they’re ready to tango with Grant’s request for records. Grant is after these records because during her WWE stint, she allegedly received treatments from Colker that she was supposedly kept in the dark about.
