In the world of wrestling, rivalries often spill over from the ring to the realm of social media, and Drew McIntyre has just thrown a digital haymaker. With CM Punk back in WWE and nursing a healed tricep, McIntyre decided to add more fuel to the fire of Punk’s already blazing rage by sharing a picture with AEW TNT Champion Jack Perry. This photo, which McIntyre posted and then quickly deleted, shows him with the man who famously tangled with Punk at AEW’s All In 2023.
Before the post vanished, the wrestling world managed to snag a screenshot, thanks to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp and other eagle-eyed fans. The caption read, “It’s a real photo, cry us a river,” a direct jab at Perry’s infamous taunt during his All In Zero Hour Match in 2023. Perry’s line, “Real glass, cry me a river,” mocked Punk’s insistence on not using real glass in stunts, leading to their backstage brawl and Punk’s eventual exit from AEW.
The fallout from that fight saw Punk heading back to WWE, only to tear his tricep in his first match back at the 2024 Royal Rumble. Punk’s time off didn’t mean peace, though. He made it his mission to thwart McIntyre’s World Heavyweight Championship dreams twice. Now, with his injury behind him, Punk is set to clash with McIntyre at SummerSlam on August 3 in Cleveland, OH, with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee.
Jack Perry, on the other hand, served a suspension post-fight and took a detour to NJPW before returning to AEW. He’s now part of the new Elite and recently clinched the TNT title at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
