Folks, Friday night’s “WWE SmackDown” was nothing short of a firework display, as six teams clashed in an all-out gauntlet brawl for a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships. And by the end, it was Solo Sikoa’s New Bloodline who stood tall, grabbing the golden ticket to face #DIY for the titles. Talk about making a statement!
Kicking things off, Angel and Berto of Legado del Fantasma squared up against the duo of Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin. Now, these guys aren’t exactly the peanut butter and jelly of tag teams, but they held their ground. Corbin’s End of Days spelled the end for Legado del Fantasma, but their victory dance was cut short by the Street Profits and their secret weapon, B-Fab. The Profits showed why they’re called “Profits,” turning the ring into their personal showcase, eliminating Crews and Corbin in a flash.
Enter Pretty Deadly’s Kit Wilson, looking like he just stepped off a GQ cover but wrestling like a shark in a kiddie pool. Despite some slick moves, they couldn’t topple the Profits, who managed another elimination with a Blockbuster from the Heavens. But Montez Ford’s knee was holding on with duct tape and prayers as Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows of The O.C. stormed in. Dawkins, with the energy of a kid after a sugar binge, disrupted The O.C.’s finisher attempt and rolled up Gallows for another shocking elimination.
Just when you thought the Street Profits were about to pull a marathon victory, The Bloodline—Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu, subbing in for an injured Tonga Loa—entered the fray. With a little help from Sikoa’s outside interference, they showed everyone what family power is all about. Jacob Fatu’s Samoan Drop on Ford sealed the deal, marking their path to the championship.
The Bloodline now has a date with destiny against Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa’s #DIY, who snagged the belts on the July 5 episode of “SmackDown.” And in true dramatic fashion, it was announced in a Bloodline vignette that this showdown won’t wait for SummerSlam—it’s happening next Friday on “SmackDown.” Buckle up, because it’s going to be one wild ride!
