Hold onto your wrestling belts, folks! The illustrious WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, known for turning the tide in women’s wrestling during a time when WWE hardly gave it a glance, has officially exited the building. According to PWInsider, Phoenix’s legends contract with WWE has expired, meaning those cherished sporadic appearances are now a thing of the past.
Phoenix, who graced the WWE ring from the mid-2000s to the early 2010s, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017. Since then, she popped up occasionally to remind everyone what true talent looks like. Her most recent cameo? The 2023 Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, where she and her hubby Edge—aka Adam Copeland—tag-teamed to victory against The Judgment Day’s Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor.
Phoenix has had a rollercoaster of a post-retirement career. From wrestling at marquee events, reuniting with her pal Natalya for a UK tour in 2019, to lending her voice as a color commentator for the 2018 Mixed Match Challenge, the Mae Young Classic, and “WWE NXT” from 2019 to 2021, she’s done it all.
But what’s next for The Glamazon? The crystal ball is a bit foggy. She originally hung up her boots in 2012, fed up with how women were treated in WWE and ready to start a family with Edge. While Edge continues his wrestling journey in AEW, Phoenix isn’t currently signed with them. However, her voice still resonates in AEW arenas, as it’s featured in the prelude to Copeland’s entrance music. Talk about leaving a lasting legacy!
Stay tuned, wrestling aficionados. Who knows where Beth Phoenix’s next chapter will take her?
