Hold onto your hats, folks! AEW President Tony Khan has dropped a bombshell, announcing that former WWE stars Mason Madden and Mansoor will make their AEW debut on tonight’s “AEW Collision.” This dynamic duo, fresh off signing with AEW and ROH earlier this month, are set to clash with former tag champs FTR. This debut promises to be as electrifying as a Fourth of July barbecue in the rain – unpredictable and full of surprises!
Taking to social media, Khan spilled some interesting beans. “Mason Madden will make history as the first person I’ve worked with as a player at the Jaguars and a wrestler in AEW,” Khan wrote via X. “We first met in a 2013 pre-draft meeting at UNC’s football office.” It’s a small world, isn’t it?
Now, let’s get to know Mason Madden a bit better. Madden, whose real name is Brennan Williams, had a whirlwind NFL career as an offensive tackle from 2012 to 2015. Drafted 89th overall by the Houston Texans in 2013, Madden’s NFL journey was cut short by a microfracture in his knee. After being released by the Texans, he had a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars – yes, the Khan family’s franchise – before bouncing to the New England Patriots and eventually leaving football.
But Madden didn’t let a bum knee slow him down. He transitioned into professional wrestling, joining WWE in 2016 and forming a formidable tag team with Mansoor until their departure last year. The pair recently proved they’ve still got it, teaming up to defeat Serpentico and Angelico during Friday’s ROH Death Before Dishonor Zero Hour pre-show.
So, tonight’s AEW Collision is set to be a must-watch as Madden and Mansoor step into the AEW ring for the first time. The excitement is palpable, and fans are buzzing. Will this new tag team sensation take down FTR? Tune in to find out!
