Ohio has officially gone “All Elite!” AEW is set to receive a hefty $1.275 million chunk of a new tax credit, part of a $36.7 million fiscal incentive aimed at boosting the film and television industry in the Buckeye State. According to an official press release, this generous allocation will support future AEW ventures in Cleveland. However, the exact timing of these ventures remains a mystery, as the current AEW live event schedule doesn’t list any Cleveland dates. The closest is an “AEW Collision” taping scheduled for September 12 in Dayton. Perhaps Cleveland will have to wait a bit longer to witness the high-flying action live.
Governor Mike DeWine is all in on the initiative, stating, “Ohio is an ideal location for entertainment production; we offer big city backdrops, small town appeal, and everything in between. We’re happy to welcome these productions — and the economic impact they’ll bring — to Ohio.” This incentive is expected to pump up Ohio’s local economy, creating jobs and boosting spending on various goods and services.
By embracing AEW with this tax credit, Ohio is putting a spotlight on sports entertainment as a vital part of its entertainment industry. Lydia Mihalik, Director of the Ohio Department of Development, emphasized the program’s wide-ranging benefits: “From the stage to the studio to Main Street, you never know where you’ll find the next great production underway in Ohio. … The recipients of these motion picture tax credits will support local economies, bringing jobs to the state and showcasing Ohio’s great communities.”
AEW’s last television taping in Ohio was on June 15 in Youngstown, celebrating the first anniversary of “Collision.” Now, with this tax incentive, it seems Ohio is ready to host even more elite action.
