2024, folks, it’s a year like no other, especially for our guy Trent Beretta! After breaking away from his Best Friends, putting Chuck Taylor into early retirement (probably sent him a nice retirement cake), and hitching his wagon to The Don Callis Family, Trent was all set for a fresh start. But fate, with a twist more dramatic than a daytime soap opera, had other plans. Since his epic clash with Orange Cassidy at Double or Nothing in May, Trent has been MIA due to an injury that was shrouded in more mystery than Bigfoot’s social security number.
But hold onto your hats, people, because Trent finally spilled the beans on X (formerly known as Twitter, for those of you living under a rock). He posted, and I quote, “quick little American neck surgery. turns out I wrestled so hard that two of the screws from my neck fusion broke. very cool. very tough. screws have been replaced. next I will be doing revenge.” That’s right, Trent wrestles so hard he breaks the screws holding his neck together! Talk about tough – you can’t script this kind of dedication!
Rewind to 2021, Trent was out for nearly a year after undergoing neck fusion surgery. The poor guy’s neck has had more repairs than my first car! This latest injury reportedly dates back to when he was doing motion capture for a WWE video game. Maybe someone should tell these game developers to use a stunt double next time?
As for his grand return to AEW, mum’s the word on the exact timeline. But knowing Trent, he’ll be back with a vengeance. If he can break neck screws and keep going, there’s no stopping this guy!
Meanwhile, The Don Callis Family is having a bit of a rough patch. Beretta’s injury is just the cherry on top of their misfortune sundae. Powerhouse Hobbs has been out since April with a knee injury courtesy of Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay checked out after losing to Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door, and Konosuke Takeshita is off in NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament. It’s like a Shakespearean tragedy over there!
Stay tuned, wrestling fans, because when Trent Beretta makes his comeback, you can bet it’ll be more explosive than a fireworks display on the Fourth of July!
