Ladies and gentlemen, the drama in the WWE is reaching new heights of absurdity as Cody Rhodes, our resident championship collector, decided to go on a verbal rampage. Just days before the grand spectacle of SummerSlam, Rhodes not only trash-talked Solo Sikoa but also managed to throw a jab at the people’s elbow aficionado, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Fresh off his fifth WWE Championship defense since dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, Rhodes is now gearing up to face Solo Sikoa. Yes, you heard that right, the same Sikoa who’s been strutting around calling himself the “Tribal Chief” in Reigns’ absence. It’s like a never-ending game of “who’s the real boss?” in the WWE universe. Sikoa earned his shot at the title by pinning Rhodes at Money in the Bank, and now he’s about to find out if his luck holds.
“This is like watching a rerun of your favorite soap opera,” Rhodes quipped to ESPN. “I defeated the Tribal Chief, the true Tribal Chief, that being Roman Reigns. Now I get to take down the pretender, Solo Sikoa, at SummerSlam. I hope he’s ready for his reality check.”
But Rhodes wasn’t done there. No, no, he had to pull a little Rock out of his hat. Flashback to WrestleMania weekend when The Rock, after an 11-year hiatus, pinned Rhodes and then casually declared their story had just begun during the post-‘Mania “WWE Raw.” Fast forward to now, and Rhodes has a message for Mr. Hollywood himself.
“If you’re someone in The Bloodline, perhaps named The Rock, I hope you will be watching because if you claim the Tribal Chief mantle next, the same thing will happen to you,” Rhodes stated with all the confidence of a man who’s clearly never seen a Fast and Furious movie.
