In a spectacular showdown that felt like a blockbuster action movie, LA Knight snatched the WWE United States Championship from Logan Paul at SummerSlam. And he did it in style, dismantling not just Paul but also his entourage, including musician Machine Gun Kelly, in Paul’s own backyard of Cleveland, Ohio.
The drama kicked off with Knight making a grand entrance in Paul’s PRIME truck, smashing the window before storming down the ramp. The match ignited before the bell even rang, with Knight slamming Paul into the barricade and launching him into the PRIME Hydration Station. Paul retaliated by spitting the drink in Knight’s face and clearing off the announce desk, but Knight turned the tables, delivering a neck breaker from the top of the desk.
Once the match officially began, the chaos only intensified. The two wrestlers hurled each other into the ring posts and traded punches like heavyweight boxers. Knight got aggressive, even going for a big elbow from the top rope, but Paul kicked out. Paul then pulled off a stunning springboard spaceman moonsault to Knight on the outside, proving he’s more than just a YouTube sensation.
In a nail-biting sequence, Paul delivered a knockout punch, but Knight kicked out. Paul attempted a top rope maneuver, but Knight countered with a superplex that nearly ended the match. The action spilled out of the ring again, with Knight taking on Paul’s friends at ringside. Amid the chaos, Paul sneakily hit Knight from behind and, with a little help from Machine Gun Kelly’s brass knuckles, seemed poised to retain his title.
But just as Paul went for a Buckshot Lariat, Knight reversed it into a BFT in the middle of the ring. With that, Knight pinned Paul, ending his nearly 300-day reign and claiming the United States Championship, sending the Cleveland crowd into a frenzy.
