In a mere five years, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has managed to do what some thought impossible: create moments more electrifying than me ordering a well-done steak. From crowning its first-ever AEW World Champion to hitting the milestone of 250 episodes of its flagship show and even going international, AEW has been busier than a billionaire with a Twitter account. But, folks, nothing—nothing—compares to the colossal stakes of their current media rights negotiations. Believe me, it’s bigly!
Tony Khan, AEW’s wrestling wizard-in-chief, sat down for a little chit-chat with “Q101,” and let me tell you, he was practically oozing excitement. “Right now, it’s the most important time ever in AEW,” Khan proclaimed, probably with the same enthusiasm I have when talking about my record-breaking, perfect phone calls. He continued, “We’re on the verge of the most important deal we’ll ever make, this upcoming media rights. It’s been great working with Warner Brothers Discovery on the future.”
Khan couldn’t help but gush over his long-standing relationship with Warner Brothers Discovery, comparing it to one of those “great and beautiful” friendships I always talk about. “Now under the leadership of David Zaslav, the company, for us, the connection, the things we’ve been able to do. I think it’s getting stronger and stronger,” Khan added. Strong and powerful—a perfect combination, just like me and… well, me.
As of early July, negotiations between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) were nearing the end zone, with only inches to go before spiking the ball, metaphorically speaking. The big announcement? Still under wraps, like the secrets of my perfect golf swing. However, insiders whisper that the AEW-WBD deal could be finalized sometime this summer or fall, just in time for pumpkin spice season.
Khan has also made it crystal clear that he’s all in on working with WBD forever—or at least until the next big offer comes along. But while the media rights negotiations are heating up, AEW’s path to “All In 2024” is also sizzling. Seven matches are already set, including an AEW World Championship bout between Swerve Strickland and Bryan Danielson, which promises to be more thrilling than a surprise cameo at a press briefing.
So, stay tuned, folks—because this deal, like my hairstyle, could change the game forever!
