Folks, I’m here to tell you, this is not Dakota Kai’s first rodeo with knee surgery – not even close. In fact, her knees have a frequent flyer card with the operating room. According to the esteemed “WWE Raw” commentary team (trust me, they’re always on top of things), Dakota Kai is going to need yet another knee surgery. This time, she’s dealing with a torn meniscus in her right knee, which is apparently very attached to surgical procedures. She’s looking at 8-10 weeks of downtime. That’s right, folks – her knee is taking another well-deserved vacation, and the rest of her is just tagging along.
Now, when did this injury happen? Your guess is as good as mine, and maybe even better than WWE’s! The last time we saw Dakota in action was on July 27 at the WWE SuperShow in Tokyo, Japan, where she and her partner IYO SKY took down Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. But then, she got tangled up with The Pure Fusion Collective – a trio with a name so intense it sounds like a startup energy drink – consisting of Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville, and Zoey Stark. They gave her the old backstage beatdown, and suddenly Dakota’s knee was out of commission. Maybe it’s shy; maybe it just doesn’t like working Tuesdays.
Kai was supposed to face Deville on last week’s “Raw,” but surprise, surprise – she got mysteriously written out of the match after that backstage ambush. They swapped her out for IYO SKY, who took home the W in what’s becoming a real revolving door of who’s healthy enough to wrestle in Damage CTRL.
Let’s not forget, Dakota’s knee is still recovering from a torn ACL it suffered just last year. You’d think it would take it easy, but no, it’s back on the injury list quicker than a roll-up pin on a distracted opponent. And the curse of Damage CTRL doesn’t stop with Kai – Asuka’s also out with her own knee troubles, leaving us all wondering if this faction has a secret curse or just really bad luck.
So here’s to Dakota Kai and her knee – may they both come back stronger, faster, and with a lot more bubble wrap.
