AEW fans have been wondering where the “Bulgarian Brute” Miro has been hiding, and we finally have some answers – though they might raise more questions than they solve. After spending an extended period in his native Bulgaria, following both a storyline split from his wife CJ Perry and a series of injuries, Miro is reportedly back in the United States.
According to PWInsider, the former WWE star, who famously dominated as Rusev, was recently spotted in Los Angeles over the weekend while the rest of the AEW roster was across the pond, putting on a show at All In at Wembley Stadium in London. The sighting has sparked speculation about whether Miro might be gearing up for a return to the ring, though nothing has been officially confirmed. For now, his last match in AEW remains his December 2023 bout against Andrade El Idolo – a match that also marked Andrade’s final appearance with the company.
Miro’s time away has been marked by significant personal and professional changes. The storyline split from his wife, the former Lana in WWE, came after Perry made her AEW debut as Andrade’s manager, leading to a feud between the couple that blurred the lines between fiction and reality. After the split, Miro reportedly moved back to Bulgaria, where he’s been recovering from a slew of injuries that have kept him out of action for most of 2023 and all of 2024 so far. In an update earlier this year, Miro revealed that he’d been dealing with shoulder and elbow issues since September 2023, contributing to his prolonged absence from the ring.
Despite his limited in-ring appearances, Miro’s contract status with AEW remains solid. He signed a four-year extension with the company in 2022, locking him in through 2026. Miro himself has referred to his original AEW deal as a “discount deal,” underscoring his commitment to the company even as injuries and other factors have limited his appearances.
As fans eagerly await any news of Miro’s return, one thing is clear: whether he’s preparing for a comeback or still on the mend, the “Redeemer” has unfinished business in AEW. For now, we’ll just have to stay tuned and see what the next chapter holds for one of wrestling’s most imposing figures.
