The world of wrestling was buzzing as AEW’s biggest stars jetted off to the UK for the historic AEW All In event, but one notable name was missing from the boarding call. While fans had their money on Jon Moxley making a surprise appearance, possibly swinging a chair in the Casino Gauntlet match, the former AEW World Champion decided to let someone else take the bruises this time around.
Moxley, who last graced us with his presence when he handed the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship back to Tetsuya Naito at Forbidden Door (because, you know, sharing is caring), was nowhere to be found in London. Instead, Fightful Select reports that Moxley opted for a quieter weekend, hanging out backstage at Wrestling REVOLVER’s “Taste of Truth” and “Fight Club” events in Dayton, Ohio—his local indie promotion, which might as well be his second home. Owned by his longtime buddy and former tag partner Sami Callihan, Wrestling REVOLVER is where Moxley goes to recharge, reminisce, and possibly plot his next unsanctioned brawl.
Despite the fact that fans are crossing their fingers for a Moxley return to AEW, sources are still coming up empty. For now, it seems like Moxley is taking his sweet time, maybe even hunting for the perfect barbed wire to add to his collection. After all, if you can’t do it right, why do it at all?
The last time Moxley tried to take a break was after the 2022 All Out pay-per-view, but we all know how that ended—Punk went down, Moxley went up, and the now-legendary “Brawl Out” press conference ensured Moxley stayed right where he was, lacing up his boots instead of hitting the beach. Whether Moxley’s extended absence is due to genuine rest or an elaborate plan to reboot Rocky with himself as the lead, we can only speculate.
So, when will Moxley be back in the ring? Only time will tell, but until then, fans can rest assured knowing he’s somewhere, probably diving headfirst into something sharp, just waiting for the perfect moment to make his return. Stay tuned.
