Folks, buckle up, because the clock is ticking on Dustin Rhodes’ contract with AEW, and there’s no guarantee the veteran star will be sticking around after September. Despite being a double champion in Ring of Honor—yes, double!—his future with AEW remains as uncertain as a wrestler’s wig during a steel cage match.
According to Fightful Select, Rhodes’ contract is set to expire at the end of the month, and despite what many fans assumed when he snagged not one, but two championships, he hasn’t signed a new deal. That’s right—Dustin Rhodes, currently one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions with Sammy Guevara and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion with the Von Erich brothers, could be walking out of AEW and ROH faster than you can say “Bionic Elbow.”
The rumors are swirling, folks. Could Dustin be gearing up for a reunion with his brother, WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes? We don’t know! Fightful reports no indication of a WWE return yet, but when you’ve got gold in ROH and a brother on top of WWE, the possibilities are endless. Not to mention, the WWE door is always open when your last name is Rhodes.
Dustin’s been a workhorse in AEW and ROH, not just competing in the ring but also contributing backstage, particularly with the women’s division. He’s been making his presence felt since his ROH debut at Death Before Dishonor in July 2024, where he teamed with the Von Erich brothers to defeat The Dark Order and earn a shot at the ROH Six-Man titles. Then, they went on to beat the Undisputed Kingdom at Battle of the Belts. And just when you thought that was enough, Dustin teamed with Sammy Guevara on AEW Collision to capture the ROH World Tag Team Titles from the Undisputed Kingdom again.
But despite all this gold, Dustin’s contract status has fans biting their nails. Will he stick around AEW and ROH, or is there a Rhodes-to-WWE pipeline ready to open?
Stay tuned, folks—this could get real interesting.
