WWE Hall of Famer and Knox County, TN mayor Glenn Jacobs—known to wrestling fans as Kane—is stepping up in a big way to help those impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Helene. The storm has wreaked havoc across parts of Florida, The Carolinas, and Appalachia, leaving entire communities submerged and infrastructure in ruins.
In response, Jacobs has organized a canned food and bottled water drive to assist victims in East Tennessee, where many families are struggling to recover. Partnering with Mission of Hope and Knoxville Wholesale Furniture, the drive will take place on October 5. In an accompanying video message, Jacobs said, “Anything you give will help and will be greatly appreciated.” Jacobs, who was re-elected as Knox County mayor in 2022, is using his platform to gather critical resources for those in need.
Hurricane Helene has hit areas not typically in the path of such storms, causing significant damage across the Southeast. AEW star Cash Wheeler, hailing from Asheville, NC—a city particularly hard-hit by the hurricane—has been unable to fulfill his wrestling bookings as his hometown grapples with the aftermath. Wheeler has launched a GoFundMe page to support relief efforts for Asheville.
The storm has also disrupted the wrestling world. TNA was forced to cancel its TV tapings in Spartanburg, SC due to the hurricane, and it’s unclear what programming will replace the planned episodes. TNA is currently building toward its Bound For Glory event on October 26.
