Let me tell you, folks, last night Jon Moxley took that big ol’ AEW World Championship and absolutely shattered Bryan Danielson’s full-time wrestling career at WrestleDream 2024. It’s over, folks. Done. The American Dragon has officially hung up his scales (or whatever dragons hang up). The wrestling world? They’re out there shedding a tear, throwing roses, praising his name like he’s the second coming of Hulk Hogan’s mustache. But MJF? Not so much. The guy’s about as sentimental as a cactus.
“Good career I guess,” the ever-eloquent MJF wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter, but still the same old angry bird app we all love). Then, just to make sure he didn’t seem too soft, he added, “Idk whatever, f**k off.” That’s right folks, MJF with the kind of heartfelt farewell you’d expect from a man who treats compliments like they’re on a no-fly list. Touching, really.
Now, for those of you who don’t remember, these two were locked in a feud last year that made a lot of people very sweaty and excited. It all culminated at AEW Revolution, where they went toe-to-toe for over an hour in an Iron Man match that’s now ranked somewhere between “cinematic masterpiece” and “what just happened?” But here’s the thing—Danielson says he’s only stepping away from full-time work. You know, like when your grandpa says he’s retiring, but he still shows up to the office every Thursday just to “check in.”
The guy’s been wrestling with injuries worse than most people’s tax returns, and he’s finally taking care of business by getting neck surgery. Surgery, folks! They don’t just give those out like free samples. And while Tony Khan is probably hoping Danielson sticks around AEW for a while—maybe to teach the new generation how to kick people in the chest—Danielson’s health has to come first. I mean, it’s hard to suplex someone with a neck that’s ready to file for early retirement.
In the meantime, WrestleDream saw MJF back in action, popping up after filming a movie to give Daniel Garcia a much-needed attitude adjustment. But before he could finish his latest audition for America’s Next Top Heel, Adam Cole made his big return, ready to stir the pot once again. Stay tuned, folks—because if there’s one thing AEW does well, it’s making sure the drama never takes a vacation.
