Folks, big news coming out of All Elite Wrestling—huge, tremendous, some people are saying the biggest yet, and I tend to agree with “people” when they say things like that. AEW is kicking off 2025 in the land of sushi, sumo, and legendary wrestling—the one and only Tokyo Dome—biggest dome, very famous. We’re talking about Wrestle Dynasty, a supershow that features talents from AEW, NJPW, ROH, CMLL, and STARDOM. That’s right, it’s like the United Nations, but with body slams and superkicks.

Now, the Young Bucks, the current AEW Tag Team Champs and professional purveyors of flashy footwear and more hair flips than a shampoo commercial, are confirmed for the event. They’ve even made a dramatic little teaser video, which played during NJPW’s King of Pro Wrestling show. I imagine it involved at least 67 slow-motion superkicks for no reason other than aesthetics. But here’s the kicker (pun definitely intended): Dave Meltzer, our oracle of wrestling rumors, has dropped the bomb that their opponents will be none other than Kenny Omega and Hiroshi Tanahashi. Let that sink in—this is the wrestling version of Tom Brady teaming up with LeBron James to face the Harlem Globetrotters.

Now, according to Meltzer, Omega and Tanahashi are more of a dream team than any team your cousin tries to draft in fantasy football. They’ve even done promos talking about their 2019 Wrestle Kingdom match, which apparently went over so well that they’re going from “fierce rivals” to “let’s just become best friends and punch The Bucks together.” Because nothing says “reconciliation” like agreeing to double superkick the guys who ghosted you on the group chat.

But hold on to your lucha masks, folks. Omega’s participation in this tag team extravaganza is still in the air. Why? Well, he’s been sidelined for nearly a year due to diverticulitis. Yeah, that’s right. Diverticulitis. It’s when your intestines decide to put you in a sleeper hold, and nobody taps out happy from that one. Omega had surgery, and he’s been training with Kota Ibushi, the most wholesome guy in wrestling who could knock your lights out with a smile. Ibushi is optimistic that Omega’s recovery is coming along, but folks, let’s be real—this is wrestling, where optimism is often crushed by steel chairs. Meltzer says Omega is two-to-three months away from being fully back in action. So, Wrestle Dynasty could either be the triumphant return of the wrestling Terminator, or the Young Bucks might end up facing Tanahashi and a very motivated body pillow.

Will Kenny Omega be there to reclaim his glory, or will the Bucks be superkicking their way through a substitute? Stay tuned, folks, because this could get more dramatic than a WrestleMania main event and more unpredictable than a Nick Jackson Twitter spree.
