Dublin’s wildest wrestling star, Session Moth Martina, knows how to make an exit—and this weekend, she may have taken that commitment a bit too literally. After a jaw-rattling showdown in a tables match at Over The Top Wrestling’s (OTT) 10th anniversary, Martina not only bid farewell to her OTT Women’s Championship (props to Raven Creed, who snatched it with gusto), but she also scored a significant head injury in the process. Some might call it an “Irish Goodbye,” but this one ended in the hospital rather than the pub.
On Sunday, Martina took to social media (X, formerly Twitter for those still in denial about that rebrand) to share the news, saying: “Thank you for the last 10 years of my life, it’s time to say bye for a bit.” Ominous? Yes. Dramatic? Always. The tweet sparked immediate worry among fans who were all ready to send their best and brightest well-wishes and pints.
According to Fightful Select, the aftermath of the match was pure concern-city. Martina lay still as a statue while Creed basked in her victory, leading medical staff to sprint into the ring faster than fans grabbing front-row seats. They examined her head and neck, and while she eventually stood up, Martina had to make her exit with a towel pressed to her head like she’d just reenacted a scene from a Rocky movie. True to form, she later posted a photo from her hospital bed with her head wrapped, captioning it: “Ten years went out with a literal bang! I should be in the pub.” Now, that’s the Session Moth spirit.
Sadly, Martina’s planned appearance at PROGRESS Wrestling’s October 27 show has been officially canceled, leaving fans wondering how many pints they should pour out in her honor. But true fans know this isn’t a farewell, just a “see ya later.” This is the same Session Moth who turned down an offer from WWE’s NXT UK division back in the day and has wrestled across ICW, Ring of Honor, and countless indie circuits. The ring may miss her, but the pub will keep her seat warm until she’s ready to raise hell once more.
